Mountainbrook interiors
Mountainbrook is my home & my own personal lab. I share this space with my husband who happily lets me experiment on our house. Inspired by everything from Martha Stewart to Andrea Zittel’s Institute of Investigative Living, I’m endlessly curious about ways of living.
I’m particularly interested in using existing materials & most of our furniture is second hand. Things that aren’t second hand are likely to be items that I commissioned, created, or bought from a local artist. But of course, there are budget finds from Ikea & Wayfair rounding out the mix.

A reupholstered ottoman (made by my great-grandfather) & chair (that I bought for $50 when I was 16) find new life in our bedroom.

After years of planning & dreaming, I engaged the services of a landscape designer to help me bring my ideas to life. Collaborating with a designer in a different space was a joy & a great learning experience (for both of us!). The landscape project was a big undertaking & it is almost complete. Changing the physical space has completely transformed the way we engage with the exterior of our home.

A newly single friend asked me to help him setup his new home. He’d met his spouse in high school & had never lived on his own before. Approaching 30, he had to start from scratch & create a physical space for his new life.
Using various research methodology, we built an understanding of his personal taste, how he wanted his new home to make him feel, & how it needed to support his different modes of living.
We purchased furniture to support a flexible, open plan living space & used inexpensive techniques to enhance the lighting.
